Ms. Nahla Kamel Alwan, Chairperson of the Authority for the Implementation of New Cities, one of the formations of the Ministry of Reconstruction, Housing, and Public Municipalities, held an expanded initial negotiation meeting with investment companies that proposed to implement the Al-Rafeel City in Baghdad. The meeting was attended by a committee from the National Investment Authority. The meeting discussed the government’s vision for the project, the preliminary steps for the investment companies, and their vision for implementing the city. The Chairperson stressed the importance of executing it according to sustainability specifications, as well as coordinating with all sectoral bodies to make it a comprehensive city in all its aspects, including residential, industrial, agricultural, and recreational establishments, while emphasizing the state’s 15% share of the project. The Chairperson noted that Al-Rafeel city will be distinguished by its geographical location near Baghdad International Airport, requiring the investment companies to provide infrastructure services and environmental determinants according to the designs and standards of the relevant sectoral authorities, making it a strategic step to solve the housing problem and congestion issues that the capital, Baghdad, suffers from.
